Marcus B. Smith is the Managing Attorney of Hepworth Legal’s Southern Utah territory. He is a highly experienced, multi-jurisdictional litigation attorney. He has represented a variety of clients – including individuals, local businesses, startups, and Fortune 500 companies – in all areas of labor and employment litigation. He has particular expertise in matters involving employment discrimination and harassment, family and medical leave, disability accommodations, and wage and hour violations.

Marcus also has significant experience representing families and individuals in child custody and divorce matters, and feels a deep sense of fulfillment in navigating such delicate matters in a judicious manner.

Marcus has also represented clients in personal injury matters, having secured settlements at policy limits on behalf of his clients. He has also obtained reduced charges and dismissals for clients facing criminal matters.

Marcus earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of Utah, and his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While attending law school, he participated in mock trials and served as a member of the First Amendment Law Review.

Following law school, Marcus clerked for Chief Judge Roger L. Hunt in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, and has since worked for multiple global labor and employment law firms.

Marcus has an infectious appetite for life and finds joy simply in flowing from one beautiful moment of creation to another. He does this primarily by spending time with his children, writing music on his guitar, being in nature (especially under the stars), journaling, and exploring new places, cultures, and experiences.
