Biography
A proud New Orleans native, Carlos brings both Southern charm and cosmopolitan experience to Hepworth Legal. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2016 in pursuit of love and opportunity—finding the former in a Utahn and the latter in the state’s flourishing film and legal industries.
Before joining Hepworth Legal, Carlos built a wide-ranging résumé that includes work with Trader Joe’s, Intermountain Health, the Utah Department of Public Safety, and the Midvale Justice Court. His professional journey reflects both versatility and a deep commitment to public service. Today, he channels that experience into a diverse legal practice encompassing family law, criminal defense, immigration law, and multi-district civil litigation.
In May 2025, Carlos was admitted to the Utah State Bar, and in September, he was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Utah.
Carlos earned his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he clerked for the Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court and helped secure asylum for two international students facing persecution abroad. He completed his Bachelor of Arts at New York University’s College of Arts & Sciences, where he received a competitive scholarship that enabled him to study in Florence, Dublin, and Madrid.
Outside the courtroom, Carlos stays connected to his creative roots—catching up with his actor friends, collecting Magic: The Gathering cards, and proudly recalling his appearance as a contestant on Jeopardy!. Fluent in Spanish and forever inspired by travel and storytelling, Carlos brings empathy, intellect, and global perspective to every case he handles.
